Jackie: College Senior portraits

Jackie is a friend of mine, one of my co-workers at Victoria’s Secret, and she also just graduated from the College of Charleston this past Saturday! And let me just say before I go any further – she is also absolutely GORGEOUS. That’s why, when she proposed the idea of senior pictures in her white graduation dress to remember this special time, I leapt at the opportunity!! Jackie also had the fantastic idea of having her shoot at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens right here in Charleston. If you haven’t been there yet – GO ASAP! Stunning. Jackie was a natural in front of the camera and I barely had to direct her poses at all. What’s better than taking pictures of a (should-be) model and friend at one of Charleston’s most beautiful locations on a sunny Friday morning in the early summer? Nothing. All these factors came together to become one utterly awesome shoot. I simply adore these photographs… everyone enjoy! And congrats on graduating, Jackie!!

Spencer is one!

Spencer is now a one year old… that’s so crazy to me! I swear it was just yesterday that I was shooting this little guy’s 6 month portraits! Spencer’s mommy Amy had the greatest idea for his one year portraits – a strawberry field!! We were both so excited and I had never shot there before so it was a great new experience. I’d definitely go there again! Spencer had a great time picking strawberries and eating them right there in the middle of the field. His face was covered in red strawberry goodness! I adore shooting Spencer because he’s always smiling and laughing… and not to mention those incredible eyes I love. Enjoy!!

Austin is one!

I had the pleasure of photographing another sweet baby boy – Austin! Austin is now a one year old and, of course, he had a great time “exploring” (AKA running!!) around Swan Lake in Sumter with his mommy and daddy! As always, one of my absolute favorite settings for all pictures… ah! He gave me some of the cutest smiles and funniest expressions. I love this kid and his big sweet brown eyes! Hope to see you again soon, Aussie!

Shelby and Trey Married: February 25th, 2012

Shelby and Trey tied the knot in BEAUTIFUL Charleston on February 25th under the stunning Avenue of Oaks in Charles Towne Landing. If you have not been to Charles Towne Landing before, I recommend that you visit as soon as possible! I must say, I was so very happy when I first arrived at the Legare-Waring house in the park and the urge to take photos of all the beauty surrounding me was truly overwhelming! The Avenue of Oaks made for the most dreamy, perfect backdrop for the lucky couple’s ceremony photos. There are many detail shots that I absolutely love from their special day – especially how everything was bird inspired and brightly colored! SOOO right up my alley if you know me I hope everyone enjoys these photographs as much as I loved taking them. What a great experience it is to shoot a wonderfully stunning Charleston wedding!

Katye and Andrew…Engaged!

I had the pleasure of shooting Katye and Andrew during an exciting time in their life… they just became engaged! We met at the Angel Oak in John’s Island to start off our photo journey. I LOVE shooting at the Angel Oak – definitely one of my most favorite places to shoot in Charleston. The lighting is always so gorgeous there and, of course, the tree is a phenomenal backdrop. We drove all around Charleston during our shoot, hitting up Folly Beach and then ending up at the Battery Park. Even though it was a beautiful day, and perfect for photos, the beach was eerily foggy. Before we even got to the shore, you could see waves of fog rolling down the streets on Folly. It was very weird, to say the least. We managed to get a few really amazing shots at the beach despite the thick fog and those shots actually ended up looking more like “studio shots”? Funny how things work out sometimes. We wrapped things up at the (super windy!!!) Battery Park, which produced some awesome shots! I love how these images turned out. We had just an all around great shoot together! Best of luck you two. Can you believe the beach was THAT foggy on a regular, sunny day? It was the strangest (…and creepiest) thing to see!

Spencer’s 1st Birthday Party!

I was so excited when I heard that Spencer’s mommy, Amy, wanted me to shoot his very FIRST birthday party at Swan Lake in Sumter! I had the pleasure of shooting The Chua Family when Spencer was only 6 months old and so I was completely astonished to see this little guy already walking!! I was so impressed and very proud of Spencer. He’s growing too fast – my camera can hardly keep up. His party was “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” themed and I thought that was such a cute idea. I LOVED how colorful and detailed his cake was – SO CUTEEE! Spencer had a great time digging into his own cake, exploring the park, opening his presents and loving on everybody! He’s such a sweet boy and has the sweetest blue eyes to match. Good job Amy and Scotty! It is easy to see through these photographs just how loved Spencer is. Happy 1st Birthday little one!!! I hope to see you again soon!

And I saved my absolute favorite for last! How can you not fall in love with these eyes?

Little Miss Morgan

I had the pleasure of photographing cutie pie Morgan once again at Swan Lake this past Tuesday in Sumter. This little girl is a ball of energy! She would be content with my camera and me for about 3 seconds and then she would bolt for any opening she could find to run in the opposite direction! She had her grandmama chasing her around as the rest of us howled with laughter. Being a child photographer is definitely not for those who get winded easily or those who have issues with getting very dirty on the ground, Hahaha. I left this shoot with grass stains on my jeans and all kinds of dirt (and other unmentionables… thanks to the swans!) smeared across my boots. But they are small bumps in the road when you get such AWESOME images as these. Definitely worth it!! Morgan is SO beautiful, I am always thrilled with the images from her sessions. It is something about her eyes and her intense gaze that absolutely love. Here’s some images from our session that I hope you enjoy as much as I do:

Ashley and Joe… Engaged!

I met Ashley and Joe at Waterfront Park in Downtown Charleston for an engagement shoot in November. Everything went smoothly and the pictures looked GREAT on camera! I was so excited to get these images home and put them on my computer… but little did I know that once I took the card out of my camera, that would be the last time I’d see those pictures (figuratively) alive. Something malfunctioned within the mechanics of the chip and I had many, many friends – very knowledgable in these areas – take their turns trying to save anything off the chip. To no avail, and after many tears from me, I asked Ashley and Joe to reshoot with me and they gladly agreed! They have been SO patient with me and they might be the SWEETEST couple! They had faith in me and my work and never seemed to doubt me! Lesson learned: NEVER use a chip for more than two years. REPLACE THEM! Hahaha! We had fun retracing our steps at Waterfront and the Battery… and to tell you the truth, I believe these pictures turned out better the second time around!!! I love these images and I think the lucky couple does too. And they get something special just for putting up with my failing chip mishap! Thanks guys!!

Parker: LRP’s First Ever Cutest Kid Contest Winner!

Parker was the winner of my first Cutest Kid Contest and, therefore, received an absolutely free photoshoot at the always gorgeous Waterfront Park in Downtown Charleston – if you couldn’t tell, probably my most favorite location to shoot right now! He had me running around the whole time trying to keep up with him. He just wanted to explore EVERYTHING… except my camera! But I definitely got some amazing shots that I really love of this little handsome boy. He’s definitely won the contest for a reason! ENJOY and stay tuned for the next contest!!

Paige and Thomas… Engaged!

I met Paige and Thomas in Manning to get some Engagement shots of the two of them. Lots of great photo ops out in the country… corn fields, big oak trees, barns, cotton fields – I just love being Southern!! Soon we discovered, though, that with the fields comes… BUGS! I swear I’m still brushing them out of my hair to this day. But I got to do something I’ve never done before in my life… pick cotton! Yep, I picked my first piece of cotton straight from the plant! I learn something new every photoshoot, haha We then travelled to Downtown Sumter to get some “city” shots to balance out our “country” ones, haha! We spent a good while searching for a doorway (that wasn’t grungy!) and got some cute shots in front of City Hall… how appropriate! These guys are awesome models and have the most ridiculously pretty eyes… don’t you think? Thanks Paige and Thomas for letting me photograph a bit of this special time in your life!!!
